UMP Appends Serialized Array on Import

I need import users with a custom field that contains a serialized array.

One of the columns in my CSV is titled

In each row is the following array:

a:5:{s:15:"default_to_role";s:10:"subscriber";s:14:"reset_password";b:0;s:5:"email";b:0;s:11:"email_admin";b:0;s:13:"remove_expiry";b:0;}

After importing, the options for each user remain unchanged. Taking a look in the database I can see that the meta_key entry _expire_user_settings for each user is:

s:137:"a:5:{s:15:"default_to_role";s:10:"subscriber";s:14:"reset_password";b:0;s:5:"email";b:0;s:11:"email_admin";b:0;s:13:"remove_expiry";b:0;}";

s:137:” “; has been appended around the serialized array and is causing it to not function properly. Any way to prevent this?

Please add following code to your functions.php

add_filter( 'user_meta_pre_user_import', 'unserializeArray' );
function unserializeArray( $userdata ){
    if ( ! empty( $userdata['_expire_user_settings'] ) )
        $userdata['_expire_user_settings'] = unserialize( $userdata['_expire_user_settings'] );
    
    return $userdata;
}
