Email as Username

Hello,
how does it work, that the email will be the username if no username is choosen?
It seems not to work in my case.

Hi Denis,

On your registration page, put only email field with other fields. If you do not put username field on registration page, then the email address will be use as username.

hey Khaled,
thats how i did it. but the username does not turn into the email, it just gets the letters before the @ and some numbers. and not the email address.

The email is cut after the @ sign.

Hi Denis,

By default, username takes without domain part from email. If you need full email as username please put following code to your functions.php


add_filter('user_meta_username_without_domain', function(){return false;});

I thought it was automatic, cause the description sounds like this.
Is this filter (Fliter Hook: user_meta_pre_user_register** (since 1.1.2)) still active? Cause I use it still. But in the documentation there are 2 asterixes but I dont know what they say.
