Title says it all.

If both ‘crop image’ and ‘Disable AJAX upload’ checkboxes are selected for the Avatar field, ‘Image Size’ is not honoured and the image is not cropped. It doesn’t crop to the default 96×96 either.

Basically the crop doesn’t work with a standard upload field.
