User disapears when uploading to avatar field with apostrophe in the file name

User disappears from wordpress users after they uploaded file to the avatar field with an apostrophe in the file name. When they log in, they cannot access their profile and the following error message comes up:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_get_sites() in /home/content/67/9310067/html/wp-content/plugins/user-meta/models/umSupportModel.php on line 754

Admin also cannot find this user to correct the field as this user is no longer found under wordpress users to access their profile even from admin view. I created a fake user and did the same thing to check and the same error came up after an apostrophe in the file name was uploaded to the avatar field.
Please advise.
