hi!
I am using a dropdown field, which is Read only for non admin.
The problem is that when a normal user (non admin) changes any other field, then the dropdown field is also modified and takes the first value of the dropdown options.
Please let me know how I could solve it.
thanks
Octavio
I have the same problem with ADMIN ONLY field. My field is radio button (Yes/No). When profile is updated by user after admin has set the Yes/No field to Yes, the field definition in usermeta (in the db) gets changed to ” “. (NULL). (the field does not display on the user’s profile screen – as it shouldn’t)
When I log into Dashboard as admin and look at the user’s profile, the field displays NO as being checked (as that is the default in the custom field)
Any way to keep the admin only field from being updated?
User Meta Pro Version: 1.1.2
Okay – Got it. I tried creating the admin only field as a text field in case there was an issue with radio and pull down types. But the value kept getting wiped out just like the radio button.
But… eventually, this is how I fixed it.
This is what I did right: Dashboard, User Meta, Settings, Backend Profile tab, scrolled down and dragged the admin only field from list on the right to the left (fields in backend profile side).
What I did wrong: In addition, I had added the field to the user profile form. (Guess I thought it had to be connected because I have multiple profiles. (it doesn’t))
Solution: When I removed the fields from the user profile form, everything worked as desired. User can update their profile and it does not impact what setting the admin has made to admin-only fields behind the scenes.
