Hi,
I need your help. I have been battling an intermittent problem with User Meta forms on a client’s site. I use User Meta Pro for both registration and user login and password management.
So here is what is happening. Every few weeks, the forms (both login and registration) get stuck. By this I mean that nothing happens when you click on the login or register button on the form. Today we had this problem again and I tried to record what I did to fix it but I am still not sure how it got “reset” so it works again. Basically, I have defined two fields – labeled Email and Email2. The email field uses the User Meta field type of “Email”, while the Email2 field is of type “Username”. The login form uses Email2 as the email field on the form and the Registration form uses Email. (Why two email fields? Because it was the only way I could get the forms to work properly – at least part of the time.) In Settings > Login, I had the login option set to use only email, and it worked fine this way for a while (but now I have it set to either username or email for convenience).
So today I tried inserting the Email email field into the login form in addition to the Email2 field that is already there. When I did this, magically the login form worked again, and so did the registration form (which I never touched). So I deleted the Email field from the login form leaving only the Email2 field and it still works. So something I did there caused the forms to somehow reset, but I’ll be damned if I understand what happened.
This has been happening every few weeks now since I installed the UM plugin. Before I chuck the whole User Meta Pro plugin and ask for my money back, I thought I would see if anyone has had a similar experience and/or ideas of the root cause. I also have an email into UM themselves asking for assistance.
Thanks for any help – I clearly need it!
