Custom Fields not saving data with shared database

The Free UM Lite version works fine on my local host, but when loading plugin and populating the forms on the live site I cannot actually save the data in the Custom Fields, the WP fields seem fine.

I checked this by viewing the wp_usermeta table.

Our site uses one database for two websites, and to achieve password login compatibility the database prefix is different for each site and the User table is linked as below
/** To share the same user tables we need to define custom settings and add common cookies */
define(‘CUSTOM_USER_TABLE’,’wp_users’);
define(‘CUSTOM_USER_META_TABLE’,’wp_usermeta’);

Can this be fixed? I am not sure why it does not work.
I am holding back on getting the paid version until we know.
