    Hello

    I need to get Custom field values for logged in User. I use wordpress function to get and output users name, username, email etc.. `<?php global $current_user;

    get_currentuserinfo();

    echo 'Username: ' . $current_user->user_login . “\n”;
    echo 'email: ' . $current_user->user_email . “\n”;
    echo 'first name: ' . $current_user->user_firstname . “\n”;
    echo 'last name: ' . $current_user->user_lastname . “\n”;
    echo 'display name: ' . $current_user->display_name . “\n”;
    echo 'User ID: ' . $current_user->ID . “\n”;
    ?>`

    Note: in this code, User First Name and User Last Name doesnt work. USername, Display Name and Email fields work. Is User Meta somehow interrupting the wordpress usual way to get Firstname and Last name of user?

    And How do I get values for Custom fields created in User Meta plugin?
    for example I have field address, and field Phone Number, with Meta Keys : “address” and “phone_number”

    I tried:
    echo '' . $current_user->user_phone_number . "\n";
    But it doesnt work.

    Can anyone help me with this please?

    Hello,

    meta_key “phone_number” can retrieve by:

    echo $current_user->phone_number

    First name and last name can be also retrieve by:

    echo $current_user->first_name;
echo $current_user->last_name;

    Another question, I hope there is a quick solution for this as well : ))
    Is there an option in plugin to create drop down field for STATE with prepopulated State Abreviations like NY, NJ, TX etc… ?

    and would I get the values from this field using the same code, or drop down values are called out in a different way ?

    You can create dropdown for STATE too, Go to User Meta >> Fields, select Drop Down and put state Abreviations in Field Options.

    And you can get the stored value with same code.

    Hi There,

    I’m using wp_update_user($userarray) to update a users data via code. I’ve tried using the meta_key in the $userarray, but the custom data is not been saved?

    Any ideas on this?

    Hello, for saving custom data, you will need to use wp_update_user
